Hi Chad
Just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that we have been extremely happy with the training you did on CJ. Discipline wise she has responded wonderfully to our commands, comes without having to use any extra measures (other than a whistle now and then). She’s also much easier to calm down and control than she was prior to your training.
My husband took her hunting yesterday (for the first time- horrible I know -but we’ve been busy!) and he could not be happier, or more impressed with what she could do. She caught wind of every bird, and held steady to shot on each one of them. Also retrieved every bird and brought them to him. He could not believe how well she did. (He’s never had a Brittany or hunted with one- I think he may be sold on the breed now.) Or at the very least – sold on what you can do with a dog! He did have her e-collar on her- but found out after hunting that it had been turned off- so she did it all on her own- without any stimulation.
So anyway, just wanted to thank you! You did a great job! Couldn’t be happier…Natalie
HI Chad and Jodi
I just wanted to tell you that Lily is doing great. She has exceeded my expectations. She has been pointing birds and hold very well. I took her out opening weekend and the people I hunted with could not
believe that she was doing what she was doing at such a young age. Thank you very much the excellent training and care. Look forward to seeing you on November 24th for my hunt.
Thank You
Matt Maurer
Chad and Jodi,
I'm sorry it has taken me a while to reply. Beatrix(the puppy's name) continues to grow like a weed and has been a great addition to the house. Although I wasn't able to hunt with her this season, I am planning on doing so this next year. With all of the nasty diseases coyotes have around where I hunt, I didn't want to take the risk of her contracting something terrible before her immunizations fully set in. (It has also been a while since I've been able to escape for the weekend). She is a smart dog that is very eager to please. I can tell when I give her a command that she doesn't
immediately understand, she gets frustrated with herself. After a few sessions of training, she nails the commands. Around the house she continues to be one of the sweetest dogs I've been around. I get a lot of compliments on how sweet and well behaved she is. I have attached a picture of her that is about 4 weeks old.
Sincerely,
Gillis Schwartz
Hey Chad and Jodi,
I just thought that I would send you some new pictures of Lily. I know that Matt has expressed how much he appreciates what you guys have done with Lily and now I would like to take the time to say Thanks! I know that she enjoys coming up there to train, which makes it easier to leave her for weeks at a time. If we say your names she gets excited so we know that she loves it up there. I have learned a lot about working/hunting dogs and have become very interested in what Lily and Matt enjoy. When I have come up to Willow Creek with Matt to visit Lily and we worked with Lily in the field, it has peeked my interest in hunting. Growing up my family did not hunt and since I have met Matt, we bought Lily and brought her up to you guys, I am amazed at what a dog can do in the field and around the house. She is an amazing dog. I know that Matt researched her bloodlines but it takes people with passion to help them bring out their talents. So for that I thank you for everything.
I hope all is well with the little guy! I hope to get us up there for a hunt some time soon. Take care and enjoy the pictures of Lily!
Jess Piermantier (Matt and Lily too!)
Last weekend was 6 planted roosters in tall grass and small brushy willows etc.. The owner had the birds out and let me know that my pointing dogs would need to work it hard since they run by birds all the time. Of course, I said and then I asked him about how long it takes most folks to do the field. Not real big, about 50 acres. He said 2 hours, maybe a bit more..... The first bird was someone's leftover hen that was just buried in the thick grass and after about 10 minutes of point no point I ended up playing bulldozer and she stuck her head up through the grass next to Rhode and so he nicely pulled her out by the head... Long story short 20 minutes later we had 5 of our 6 roosters, only 5 because I missed one. Three he was completely steady. One I didn't whoa him (I'm figuring this steady thing out. Kind of different, but very nice. And one he was racing down a ditch row and flushed it but I killed it anyway when it flew.
Question, should I NOT kill birds that he doesn't point? and... should I also NOT kill birds if he doesn't hold steady? What do you think? Anyway, I'm not bragging yet, but the dog is great. We went to Central WA today and did 7 chuks and 5 roosters and had some great dog work and he got all of his 6 birds. Then I ran him on 6 with my pointer and it went okay, but both dogs could have performed MUCH better so I'll be running them by themselves. Bummer. Okay, almost done.... I'm trying to re-schedule my vacation so I can get Rhode to the WA Bird Dog Challenge in April. I'll let you know how we do. Oh yes, the dog is now causing me to spend more money again. Just about a mile of clearing and hog fence for the guy is being worked right now!! My poor wife can't bear to kennel him during the day, but is scared to death something may happen to him off the property if she's not around.... It's all your fault. haha. Scott
Chad is a "dog whisperer" -- not heavy handed but extremely effective. When we visited to watch our girls perform with him in hunt tests, they were very happy to see us after their tests but wanted to be with us only until Chad walked by with another dog and a shotgun over his shoulder. Then they wanted to go with him. They loved him. He's simply the best around, and he's just outside of your back door. Steve.
Frederick and I cannot thank you enough for the work you did with Gus. Thank you for taking the time to show us your techniques with the e-collar, commands, and especially the relaxation take down. Gus now allows us to pet him, when he previously didn't like that at all. As you explained, it is all about affirming who is alpha. As soon as he got home he started to notice the birds on the bird feeder and tried to point them. Jodi, I understand from Chad, that you played a key role in helping to turn Gus from a domineering wild puppy into a well behaved dog that just likes to "hang out" with us. No more jumping on people, counters or furniture. We could not have asked for more. We really appreciate the personal approach that both of you provided. You were kind and generous to Gus, but also to us. You gave us back a dog we can live with and love without the hassle of training. We will do our best to keep reinforcing the work you did and call you for help if any problems arise. Everything is falling into place for us, we are so thankful that Steve Ries recommended that you help us with training.
Sincerely,
Fred and Anne
Chad,
Just wanted to say thanks for having us up at your kennel. We had a blast, it was great getting my dad out in the country since he’s been
cooped up in NYC. I’ll contact you soon to figure out when we can have our second consult.
Thanks again,
Rich
Dear Chad and Jodie,
I apologize for not calling last fall end letting you know how much I appreciated what you did for my dog Tor. As you may recall he is the German Musterlander. My concern was his discipline and fetching abilities.
After your work with Tor I hunted him many times last fall and had wonderful experiences. His fetching was superb. I remember one time in North Dakota I lightly hit a rooster and the bird kept flying. Tor was running as fast as he could to keep up. About 500 plus yards away I could just barely see the bird fold and fall out of site. I turned to my hunting buddies and said Tor is going to get that bird. They both said no way and that I did not even hit the bird. As they finished their disclaimer we all looked back at the direction Tor ran and saw him proudly returning with the bird.
Again, thank you, hope to see you soon and have a great spring and summer,
Gordon

Jodi/Chad, Here is a picture of Sieben with his 4th bird. He has exceeded my expectations in all areas. It just amazes me how he transforms himself when he gets on scent. He seems a little clumsy when just loping around and then he gets that smell and BAM he is on fire. Thank you so much for the professional job you did with him. Thanks also for the retrieval tips I will implement your suggestions immediately. All the Best! Coop |
